Here is an example that has been flying for 7 years. Upper strut attachment. Carlson "small" strut, and Mcmaster-Carr 7071 alloy insert, with two AN4 bolts.

You should follow the manual. Connecting the mags that way (Left to bottom plugs) is traditional, and very helpful, when trying to track down a rough-running condition problem.
