I've used book binding tape on both my firestar and now the ultrastar. Yes, its temporary but so am I. It lasts a good long time and looks way better than the stits tape IMHO

Found the answer. The issue was the redrive mounting plate. It had holes drilled in it too close to the edges and suffered from cracking. Most were replaced.
