Ameri-King AK-450 ELT - Remote Battery Included?

Can anyone tell me if the Lithium battery is included already in the
remote on the AK-450 ELT? I have the remote unit installed and need
to send someone shopping for batteries for the ELT today and I'm
not sure if I need to send them out for the 1 DL 1/3 NB Lithium AND the
D-Cell batteries, or if the lithium is already in the remote....which
is mounted in a hard to reach area from the back.

It is included, but must be changed periodically (I believe mine says
every five years). If you have it in an inaccessible or hard to reach
place you might want to rethink the location.

Yes, it's already installed... and has to be re-newed every year...(per
instructions)... need to make it easy to get too...

Sheldon,

According to my manual, if the remote battery is lithium, it's only
necessary to replace it every 8 years and if it's alkaline, every 4
years. The main batteries must be date coded by the manufacturer and
replaced by the date on the batteries. They recommend replacing the "D"
cell main batteries every year but it's only mandatory by the date on
the batteries.

Yes, you are right... I was only guessing (I guess) about the one year...
However, when the FAA did the initial inspection on my bird, they told me my
D batteries were out of date per the sticker label on the AK-450... and
needs to be replaced every year at condition time and the sticker renewed...
So that's what I've been doing... gives me plenty of batteries laying around
for my flashlights... You might be right about the date on the batteries...
I needed to look at my 450 manual...
