The only "bad" thing about this list is that the archives for this list
includes your email address - which is fodder for the spam-harvest-bots.
(I have a couple of postings in the archive that have increased my spam
count a great deal)

Actually, this isn't true. If you look at the archives, the email
addresses are obscured from automaticed harvesters. For example,
"smith(at)isp.com" is translated to "smith(at)isp.com".
The notion that the email list archives increased spam is only
minimally to blame. Once an email address has been obtained by
spammers, it is generiously shared among them all. Simply sending an
email to a friend that has a harvester v*rus is enough to get the chain
started.
