I've seen the small batteries. They're the rage now. The problem I see is if one fails while you're away from home, trying to get a timely replacement may not be possible.
We use the standard wheel chair sealed lead acid battery in our Glasair. Here in the Phoenix heat, not to mention a hot firewall, batteries don't last much beyond 3 years. (Although battery technology is getting better.)
Anyway, we were at Flagstaff (AZ) one day. When we got back in the plane - nothing. The classic Phoenix catastrophic battery failure. The good news is, I was able to pick up a Yellow Pages and call a local Interstate Battery distributor. (In this case, medical.) He even delivered the battery to the airport - all within 2 hours!
Interstate seems to be improving their batteries over time. I waited 3 years on this last one and replaced it prophyllactially. The new one is a Glass-mat recombinant, that is now 35 A/Hr over the old 33 A/Hr in the same package! And still only $65.
If you're IFR, you want a lot of capacity, in case the alternator quits in the muck.
