Why would you think a conversation on auxiliary fuel tanks need not be in the archive? From what I understand this list is setup to share ideas and tips on building an RV10, and I would be very interested in extending the fuel range by having a removable aux tank in the passenger area. Yes, I would look in the archives first to not ask the same questions multiple times, but by using the DNA this will never get in there, depending on which email he replies too.
Most times I would agree, but in this case I think it is a valuable discussion.

Chris’ answer will be interesting to archive when he gives it, but what’s the point of archiving a message that says,

“Chris can you tell us about the fuel tank.”

Actually, this allows me to ask a question that is probably answerable if I took the time to go look it up on the Matronics rules page.

If Do Not Archive is in a post, anywhere in a post, does that post then not get archived?  If so, then I agree with Dan, otherwise, I agree with Tim.  This is not quite like Tevya, where they are both right but can't both be right, but it's close.  Now, pardon me, I must go out to the Barn and fix my Wagon.

ANYWHERE in the post.

"do not archive" not needed here, cause it's included a few times below
already.

The idea of an archive is of great value, only if the readers use it First.  We are getting lots of repeat questions (with answers waiting quietly in the Archive) recently from individuals who were not privy back a year ago.  If they don’t look for it the archive first,  value is NOT.  Much of what is said does not need to be filed into perpetuity. Some people are lazy, others just want it permanently recorded.  I support Tim.  Hence.

Before this goes off the deep end, it is not about support. I happen to agree with Tim, the question does not need to be there, but if do not archive appears anywhere in the email stream then the message does not get in there, and my point was that it might be worth an extra 11 thousand 1's and 0's to be stored if the responder clicks on the wrong message and does not get in there. But by posting do not archive after wards and not in the original message then not only are we wasting the storage space of the original message, but also valuable bandwidth at each of the 1000's of ISP's that we all belong to, to just see a message that says do not archive. There is a monthly reminder that is sent out to each of us with the rules and guidelines, and too waste additional bandwidth sending an email saying do not archive after the archive has already taken place is pointless. So with that being said if we all looked at the rules, then this would be a non issue,
In this particular case I do believe that the question itself should not be in the archive, but the answer needs to be, and that is all I was referring too.
