Dear Fellow RV-8 Builders, I can't seem to find in the written instructions info for setting the swing limits for the ailerons. I see where the drawings shows where to put the stop, but I need to know how far up and down the aileron can travel. Who can help me out? Also, are we to put the stops on both ailerons? One to stop up and the other to stop down? Thanks, Bill of Georgia

Hey Bill,

Have you seen any planes out there with the plastic spacers in the aileron hinge used to limit the travel of the ailerons. Just did mine this way. Simple and elegant.

The control throw specs are in Chapter 15 page 2. Up 25 to 32 deg, down 15 to 17 deg. Good luck.

Dennis, it does seem to be a more eloquent way to employ a stop. How do you turn this stuff down to get the min/max degrees of travel? I don't have access to a lathe. Also, can I get some of this tube stuff from you (if you have extra)? Best regards, Bill

George, thanks for the info. My dear Wife found the chart last night for me and again I had to suffer under her wagging tongue of humiliation and jest. I hate it when she finds something I looked for for days!
Best regards, Bill

Bill,

Sorry for the late reply. The plastic we bought had a 1/2 inch outter diameter and that seems to work great for the aileron travel limits! I might have some left over but I'm leaving town in a matter of minutes. Back Monday. Do you still have my phone number. We could talk about sending you some then.
