Greetings all:
My brother and I bought a previously-owned RV-6 kit in the crates about a year ago and have been building for about ten months. He is doing the wings, while I have the fuselage and empennage at my place. Empennage is complete less the fiberglass work, while the fuse is at the skeleton stage.
The wings are probably 50% complete--the tanks still to be done.
So far I guess we are pretty typical ... I've built 3 tube and fabric experimentals and found them very easy ... the RV is a different type of building and the blueprints and manual are cryptic to say the least. We have printed out and consult the Justice notes frequently, plus I have watched the Orndorf videos countless times. We alternate frustration and satisfaction ... from what I hear that is normal.
I've had to reorder two parts so far, fortunately they were cheap ones. Now that we are in the thick of building, I'm sure we will have questions for the list. BTW, I am building the fuse in Lexington, SC and the wings are in Lancaster, SC (about an hour distant). One of these days we'll be test fitting the wings to fuse ... should be exciting.
