Basically, I cut (sheared) the leading edge of the winglets on our Hartzell Q-tip prop, based on some inspiration from a Paul Lipps article. We gained 5 knots and fly a little more nose down than before.

Frankly, I have a hard time believing it, but that data seems consistent.

Mike, nice article. Thanks. I opted for the 74" blades years ago and picked up 7MPH true. Do you have any resonance info on this combined with a o-320? I have the Van's wheel pants finished and have flown a couple of times but need to fly more to determine the improvement. It looks like another 5MPH but can't be sure yet; the air is pretty unstable in Florida right now. This is all Van's. I had a very good fit on the old pants and the new ones were very carefully installed. I found the Van's pants hide more of the wheel in flight yet have more ground clearance.....a nice combination.

Anything you can offer on the 7663-2 blades is appreciated. RObin Young
