I joined about a year or so ago looking for a little info here and there regarding my 1978 172n.  I'm also a member on the RV-10 list which has TONs of interactions.  Yeah, the Cessna list is way too quiet!  At least we know there's two of us...

I have 50% of a 1974 Turbo normalized Cardinal RG.

Have also wondered if I was flying solo on this list.

Like Bruce I have RV interest also. Wings for my RV-8 (slow build) are
due for delivery tomorrow.

I'm enjoying the full slow-build process!  You are going to LOVE the 8.  Speedy little planes.  My home airport, 7s9, is just a few minutes from Van's Aircraft at KUAO, so we see lots of RV's ripping up the skies.

Good luck!

Thanks Bruce.

I am in Vegas. Will be in your neck of the woods weekend of 15 Aug for a
MiG-21 dedication at the Evergreen Museum. Hope to look in on Vans if I
can get into Portland on a non-rev pass on Friday.

I got one ride in an 8 last summer at the Cold War Air Museum at
Lancaster, TX, south of Dallas. Awesome. Reminded me of a fighter.

Cheers.

You will be SO close!  I just passed my IFR checkride at KMMV, which is the airport right across the street from Evergreen.  By Cessna 172, Van's is about 12 minutes to the east.  Very close.  You'll want to check the hours they are open to get a decent tour.  Hope you can pull it off!

Congrats on getting your instrument ticket. That is a noble
accomplishment.Mine came with military pilot training in 1962. Since
then I picked up the CFII but I don't do much with it.

I often fly IFR in general aviation aircraft but not when the wx is bad.
Instead, I use it to get on top of a marine layer when there are a lot
of alternate options and for getting in and out of high traffic density
areas like southern CA.

I was tempted to fly the Cardinal to Colorado Springs this week to take
a grandson to look at the AF Academy. Really glad I booked Allegiant
instead because the wx was really ratty.

Later and thanks for the info on Vans.
