I have done hundreds of spins in a Cessna 150 Aerobat, but your
position and view in the spin is just insane crazy. Do you do that
often ? How many turns have you done ? That is a really cool
video, I hope you keep making new ones.

I wouldn't do a spin in anything I wasn't real familiar with flying. I have
been flying the same plane for 10 years, and one very much like it for
10 years before that - hours maybe 2,000+ same type.
I've seen a Firestar put thru a lot more than a spin....loops,
hammerheads etc.
but not by me and the wings didn't come off.
I had never done a spin before last year - never been in a plane that
was spun. I put an extra seat belt on the plane, just for the occasion
that's 2 seat belts + the shoulder harnesses .........yee haaa!
It's not a bad feeling at all, after you do the first one or two.

Russ,

What I meant to type was " A spin into the ground is usually fatal ". I got interrupted while typing that and left out a critical part.

I have done hundreds of spins also, am I am still here Smile I haven't had the balls to spin my MK III though, I fly it pretty gently and I think I will pass on spinning it...

Possums,

I am with you on the idea of two sets of seat belts in your open cockpit plane, that is a great idea for you plane. Seeing you hang there looking straight down is just wild in that video, I need to show that video to some friends that think they are brave ! As far as the Firestar, my uncle and I used to compare notes on flying both the MK III Xtra and his firestar, and it seems to me that his Firstar was much lighter on the controls, more agile, and would be much more suited spinning / unusual flight attitudes than my heavy MK III Xtra is. I fly my MK III pretty much like an airliner, the plane just seems made for nice, relaxing flying, and cruising along at low altitude and enjoying the scenery. I practice stalls, forced landings, engine failures, even landing with the engine shut down, and what I need to keep safe and ready for an emergency in the airplane, but I don't feel comfortable pushing the MK III hard such as spins or any type of unusual attitudes.

Mike

I can only comment on what I read -- i.e, what you say.
