Hey Tim:

See that you are checking in on the forum again. Sorry I missed you (at)
S&F but the plane looks great. I was there Wednesday and Thursday
morning. There was a steady group around the display. It was a pleasure
to meet several other -10 builders and actually see a -10 in person -
kind of made me ready to get back and complete the fiberglass work and
get the engine mounted.

This trip was a decision base as I had to make some final decisions on
the panel and get it rolling. I bit the bullet and went for the Chelton
duals, had some good discussions with "Stein" and made a decision to let
him do the panel.

This was my first fly-in (although I drove down) - pretty impressive.
The wife even had a great time and is talking about next year.

Looking forward to hearing some of the other reports as they flow in....

These SnF posts got me thinking I ought to just jump in the RV-7 and fly down to Lakeland tomorrow (only 550 nm - no biggee Wink ). Then the monster cold front that was spawning T-storms and tornadoes (saw my first-ever funnel cloud today...) in the neighborhood and across the southeast convinced me that it actually would be a good weekend to just stay home and pound some more rivets. Oh well, see y'all at OSH.

Absolutely I'll see y'all there. It's only an hour by -10 for me
to OSH. I'll have only a couple photos from SNF to post...it's
been busy by the plane with questions. If anyone else takes
-10 related SNF photos, send them on over to me and I'll post
some highlights of SNF for the builders. Include comments
and I can add that to the page with credit to you.

I know there are some interesting things. RV-10 A/C,
a new RV-10 TruTrak AP, Henkjan brought his locking door latches
to check out (very nice at maybe $200/pr ballpark (don't hold him
to that)), and lots of other cool stuff as well. I only wish
I had time to check it all out.

Anyone have any advice on who's el'cheapo portable O2 system is
the best bet? That's about the only big thing I'm shopping
for. I don't want a permanent install right now, and probably
won't use it often because of the kids, but it would be nice
to have for some trip legs. I may end up in San Diego this
summer.

Dear Byron:

You want be disappointed in having Stein build your panel. He is a really
great guy, and he will do you a really good job. Just remember that Stein,
like everybody else is at the mercy of the suppliers in getting your
instruments installed. I had to wait a number of months because of the
backlog on equipment deliveries but Stein really went to bat for me and I
couldn't be happier.

The head of the local avionics shop, who also has an international division
and works all over the world, stopped by and looked at the panel Stein built
and was VERY impressed.

I have a Mountain High O2 tank mounted in my -7 and have found their systems to be well designed, with lots of different options. Plus, at every fly-in where they set up a booth, they will refill your O2 tank for free. It's one of the reasons I go to OSH every year Smile.

We went with the 4-place Sky Ox bottle and are very happy with it.
