I'm looking to re-seal the injector/primer hole plugs in the underside of my cylinder heads.

The injector nozzles in the top are supposed to be installed with anti-sieze and torqued to 40-60 inch-pounds.

I'm thinking the 40-60 inch-pounds would be consistent and either anti-seize or Loc-Tite 565 (white) would be used on the plugs. These are 1/8" NPT tapered fittings if I recall correctly.

HMMmmmmmm ...Where does the 40 - 60 in/lbs come from?  If it is just for 1/8" NPT then ANY thing on the threads will act as a lubricant and you will actually be going over the 40 - 60 in/lbs.
Is it a number given WITH the anti-seize?


Bottom line - Pipe threads are totally different than straight threads.  Just snug it up and go 1/4 turn further and you are done.
AND... The plug has a Allen socket... Did you do your math for the length of the Allen Wrench?


Do you really think Lycoming uses a torque wrench for this!

Thanks for the response.....

That number came from my fuel injection system manufacturer and they also specified anti-seize. I'll look up the spec in my lycoming manuals and see if it is different - you may be right with snug + 1/4 turn.

I have an allen socket that adapts to 1/4" drive - no additional math for the torque wrench.

But I still don't know whether to use anti-seize or 565.....
