Had an unusual thing happen on Saturday.
Flew a total of 250 mi to Jean, NV for a prime rib breakfast at a casino, an annual ride for Big Bear pilots to start the New Year. Plane flew fast, outside temps were down around 30F or maybe that’s why I had the throttle advanced, as it was cold inside.
After landing at home, I was checking plane over and discovered that an access cover I had under the left wing was gone. Just a 3 1/2” hole. I had done work on the wing and I swear the cover was in place but it was gone. The plane would probably have gone faster with it in place. Or maybe I should take the one off the other side and go even better? Am always learning something.
