Brian;
Most plastics gradually dissolve with MEK application. Wear protective
gloves with it so no skin exposure. If you can find an epoxy stripper with
methylene chloride in it, it might work also.

Hi Brian,
I am doing a ground vibration test on their Albatros. It had a reputation for
lower
wing flutter during the war, even if they did not know why the lower wing
was falling off. TVA is building a small production and want to know how it
can
be prevented. I am doing this with a German company which has a lot of
experience
in flutter testing. It is a rather interesting project. I expect we will
be done with it in a week or so and I hope to have some time available
afterwards
to look around and maybe visit with people I know. My flight home is May
14. I do not know the people you mentioned.
That is neat that you have that little biplane. I hope you can get the rest of
the 90% done some time soon.
Sonja

Ok, it's nothing to do with a Pulsar, but some of the Gurus here might just
know
the answer - -
I've made nice little aluminium shrouds for the wing/fuselage gaps for my
"other"
aeroplane - - the 1926 Flitzer. Managed to find some offcuts from a repair
shop, of just the right gauge. The aluminium has protective plastic material
[very
light grey colour] on both surfaces. Normally this protective coating is
pretty easy to peel off, leaving a nice clean and shiny surface underneath.
The
trouble is, these offcuts had been sitting around for quite a long time. It
seems that the plastic that was more exposed to light has become, well, less
plastic,
more brittle, and the adhesive seems to have a tighter grip. So getting
the plastic layer off now is an issue.
Is there some way of rejuvenating the plastic to restore its suppleness and
tensile
strength, or some way of defeating the adhesive bond, without making a total
mess.
Suggestions welcomed.
Brian

As an experiment you might try a drain cleaner called "Plumbers Helper". It
works to take the OLD paper off Plexiglas sheets.
PS, I still have a forward canopy slide pin if anyone needs one.

Have you tried some heat? This has worked for me using a hair drier to
softener the plastic and make the glue more pliable again.
