Some of you might remember meeting my buddy and sometimes co-pilot, Jack, who attended the 2007 Pulsar fly-in with me in Lawrence. Jack is a retired military jet pilot and avid RC jet modeler. For years we've talked about making a trip to the Air Force museum at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH. It just so happens that this year, that will also be the host location of the Jet World Masters competition where about 100 of the world's best jet modelers are invited to compete and show their stuff. This competition is held once every two years and this will be the first time it has been held in the USA and Jack says probably the last in his lifetime. These model jets feature real turbine engines and fly in excess of 200 mph. In the hands of a master pilot, they are a sight to behold!
We are planning to attend the two week event for a few days during the last week of July http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123245903 and I thought there might be some of you who might be interested in joining up while we're there for the jet event or the museum or both. I don't know yet which airport we'll be flying in to or where we'll be staying (any Pulsar people nearby?) but one thing's for sure, where Pulsar people gather, there's sure to be a good time.
Let me know if you'd like to meet up. Otherwise, I hope to see everyone at the Pulsar fly-in, wherever and whenever it happens this year. Greg, I sold my house in Austin along with my smoker but I'm working on acquiring another (smoker) and would love to throw down some good Texas BBQ again for the group if we meet in central Texas.
