Due to a leaky starboard fuel tank I attempted to remove a panel on
the wing some of the screws were rather tight. This resulted in
damage to the screw heads.

How can I remove the damaged screws?

Once the panel is removed, what should I do to remove the fuel tank?

Thanks.

George:

Did you get an answer to your question?
Step 1:
Soak the screws with BP Blast.  It is a penetrating solution.
2 - Here you have a couple of options: a> Get a 10" long or greater SNAP-ON screwdriver.  NO Kitchen draw garbage... NOTHING MADE IN CHINA!  b> If you use a screwdriver with replaceable tips There is a special tip made by SNAP-ON that works GREAT also.
3 - If #2 fails then you have to get a DREMAL with a thin blade CUT-OFF BLADE and cut a slot head... YES you will probably cut into the skin.  AND you will still need a SNAP-ON quality COMMON, straight blade screwdriver.

For replacement work... DO NOT USE S/S screws.  Use high temper structural STEEL screws AND do not over tighten.  237.9% of the time people over tighten the screws, don't you be one of them.
