I have an O200 with a vacuum pump. I don't plan to use any vacuum gauges so I want to take it off to save weight. Is there a plate or cover that I could get to seal off the engine. Also are there any gears or whatever that need to be removed when the pump is taken off?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom:

Yes, there is an OFFICIAL plate but since you are experminental you could make your own.  I would use 0.125" aluminum 6061 or 7075 with a gasket.  And since you are sealing it almost permanently use a slight smear of Hi Temp RTV.
NO - There aren't any gears to remove.
