Mark I have not finished or done the math on 541KF 92 speedster, but my
experiance with my Avid was that I had a hard time getting my cg far enough
back. 16.5" I think is max rear for the Avid. What is the max rear cg for
your plane? This may be a blessing if you upgrade your motor, battery,

I bought the aft 5 ft of a speedster to attempt to splice onto my KF 2 I
have tube damage from where the vertical attaches on the top cross tube. I
guess you would call it the most aft section of the fuselage. I don't have
to splice on the entire 5 ft but will have to start forward of where the
vertical starts. The speedster has all the surfaces and they are all ribbed
and fabriced with electric elevator trim built in. The horizontal and
elevator weighed together are 5 lbs heavier than my old ones, so I know the
vertical and rudder will out weigh the old by more than that. I would like
to have the speedster tail [10" taller vertical and rudder] either way it
goes I have to replace the most aft appr. 4 ft of my KF2 fuselage. Thanks

I don't know all there is to know about these kitfoxes but some of the
weight and balance paperwork that came with the plane when I bought it
saysextreme aft CG should be less than 14.28" {28%} of mean aerodynamic
chord. Somewhere I think I have read that the avid is a little shorter the
kitfox. I also read in one of the service letters posted on skystar site
that the kf 4 I believe was changed to 16" extreme aft CG. It shows MAC to
be 51" on the 2 and to divide aft CG by 51" to get %MAC. I am not sure if I
can add the extra weight to he tailwheel and multiply by arm or if the
plane w&b has to be done with max gross. I hope you are right because I
think I will try to splice it together and ten do W&B then start shedding
ribs, lights, servos,etc Thanks Mark

Mark I have not had enough coffee to do math today or have my manual nearby.
There are probably many solutions for moving other weights farther forward
on your plane if needed. I would finish the graft enough to weigh it then
check the math. I am installing a VW with redrive on mine and have mounted
the battery box waaayyyy back in prep for the cog struggle, but will dial it
in later.
