I just got a copy of the Temporary Revision number 5 dated 1 December 2011 of the 172 and Skyhawk Series 1969 Thru 1976 Service Manual.
2A-12-07 shows a requirement to replace the U bolds securing the flat leaf spring main landing gear assembly every 3 years or 1000 hours?
Has anybody gone thru this procedure? I reviewed books on a 1969 Cessna with over 7000 hours on it and the U bolts have never been replaced.
Are there any service difficulty reports or other documentation to justify replacing these bolts every 3 years? BTW they cost about $344.80 each too.
