Hello,

Does anyone have any experience in the installation of a Van's parking
brake:

http://www.vansaircraft.com/cgi-bin/store.cgi?ident=1386516792-84-561&action=search

or an Andair throttle quadrant:

http://andair.co.uk/system/index.html

If so, are they easy to install in an RV-6? Mine has a fixed pitch
Sensenich propeller and a 160 HP Lycoming O-320 engine.

As for a parking brake, I have none in my RV-6. I would find one useful
when undertaking power checks prior to take-off. Which in your opinion
would be best and easiest to install?

Thanks.

Hi George,

If you do a search on VAF you will find a number of interesting comments on
Park brake -

http://www.vansairforce.com/community/showthread.php?p=782033

Personally I am going to install the Grove type - it is a one part unit -
The Matco is made in 2 parts and if you clamp it hard in place - the
internal piston may jam

Have you looked at this throttle quadrant

Again .. search on VAF and you will see several who has installed it .. I
have no experience with the Andair type.

Yea, they may LQQK good.  But from a maintenance point, they are literally a Head Ache when you have to go upside down and backwards to work under the panel.  It cuts your access and movement in half.

I was worried at first that I wouldn’t like it but the opposite happened. The throttle knob is double wide with a separater so that it looks like a twin engine quadrant, but the good news is that you can rest your palm on it comfortably. It even works well for formation flying. The knobs for mixture and prop and human engineered so that you can feel which one your using without looking. I don’t know what installing the quadrant is like but using it is great.
