Commander Folks:

Wow! it's later this week.  I am so excited that I went for a bi-annual flight review this morning and as could be expected it went exceedingly well.

While driving back home and contemplating a mental post flight review of my most excellent performance, it came to my attention that perhaps I have received more awards in the last several years at our meetings than anyone else.  Due the fact that this will be a very short flight for me (about an hour and twenty five minutes) there is no chance of receiving the award for the furthest flown is only fair to those with a lower skill level than me, to also eliminate myself from the competition for the much coveted GOLDEN PEDAL award.  Would someone please be so kind as to advise me of the times when the judges for this award will be on the tarmac.  With this information an arrival can be scheduled when the judges will not be on duty, which in turn can give others (though undeserving them may be) a chance to win this most prestige's award.

See ya soon!

Folks,
We won't be able to attend this year either. There was death in my wife's family and one other family member is in ICU for a month already, so taking a trip is not on the cards. I will be with you all in spirit, be sure of that.
Next year.

Well, yet again, N353CC and I won’t be able to make it either. Therefore the “Highest Time Airframe” award will have to go to someone else. Like Nico, I will be there in spirit, and will miss seeing all of my Commander friends.

Nico, we’ve yet to meet, but I’m sure it will happen someday. I hope things work out with the family and I’m sorry to hear of your loss & challenges.

Fly safe,

I'd like through out something to the group and see if there would be
any interest on a airplane project i am putting together.

I am currently looking at two Lear 35A models for my FAA pt135 operation.
I have two plane identified, one of the two is in pre-buy this week.

I am looking for some backing on these aircraft to match what I have
raised to date.
You would have a guaranteed return on your investment.

The mission for the planes will be air ambulance.

The FAA certificate, Academy Airlines, is in it's 50th year of operation.

If anyone is interested in learning more please contact me.

Hi Moe,

JimBob says that because he’s probably in cahoots with the guys on the Approach and Tower frequencies.
So, it’s probably “eyes & ears” everywhere.

They’ve probably been asked to make a note if:
A pilot asks for a transmission to be repeated
A pilot doesn’t reply to a transmission when they should
A pilot sends a transmission that is ambiguous or cannot be clearly understood
Or any other transgression of what how an accomplished pilot should fly and land his aircraft.

Furthermore, they will probably be assisting in the taxiing process too, so that if no TCFG spy is around, details can be passed on when requested.

So, don’t rely on not being the recipient, yet again Wink

See ya there!!

Very Best Regards,
Barry

G'day Moe,
I have 'reliable' intel which suggests that your arrival before 4pm Wednesday would be very safe!
Look forward to seeing you - it is a beautiful Autumn day here in the Pacific NW!
Cheers

Barry-Russell,

Thanks for the much needed advice. I have been able to use this information to formulate my plan:

(1) I NEVER call approach control, as it is much more expedient to simply call the tower while turning down wind or better yet while turning base.  Also, rather than report in as N680RR I shall use the number N222JS.

(2) A new battery is being installed in my hearing aid by my audiologist.

( 3) Replace my faulty push to talk switch.

(4)  Disguise my pleasing southern accent in order to sound more like a more learned northern pilot.

(5) Departing FMN at about 5:00 AM should get me there early enough.

Again, my most humble thanks for helping me give others a chance at the prize.

Regards to all,

Thanks, John. We'll have to make that meeting happen. I have completed my book in the meantime and it will be off to the publishers this week. Always a few things that need tying up until one just closes the folder and sends it off, regardless.
Many thanks,
Nico

PS. Folks who were at the fly-in, please post you videos, pictures and comments on the group's facebook page: www.facebook.com/commanderflight or send them on to me and I'll publish them on your behalf.
