Greetings,
I'm still on the list occasionally. Just replaced engine and hope to get
it up and running more likely in spring as we keep getting snow in South
Dakota!
BJ really summed up the sentiments of this list. I couldnt have gotten
my plane running nor kept it going without the reassurance of all my
fixes and improvements from this list!! Everyone is so gracious offering
even a home phone number in most cases to "talk over" a piece of advice!!

Safe Flying everyone!!

Guys,

I have enjoyed and learned from the Matronics Kitfox list serve over the
years, recognizing lots of names and appreciating your insights.

If I get an e-mail from the Matronics Kitfox list serve I read it. Love
too by the way. Even if the subject does not seem of interest to me at the
moment. The experience and knowledge in the Kitfox builder/owner community
is really important to keep on the front burner and thriving for everyone
who owns or who probably should have the brand clearly on their radar
screen.

E-mails from Team Kitfox don't just appear in my IN BOX, (maybe I just
don't know how to set that up) so I have to go out of my way to log on and
then hunt for what I want in Team Kitfox. Unfortunately that translates to
out of sight, out of mind for me which is a darn shame. I get a sense that
this observation resonates with quite a few others.

Taking the next logical step, Debra, John and the the Kitfox brand are
missing out because of this. A robust owner/builder forum that grabs your
attention thru e-mails sent directly to us, that we can't miss, builds
enthusiasm, promotes interest in the brand, and is not just good for the
brand but probably essential. I suspect that many who might have some
interest in a Kitfox would be regular readers if e-mail posts were
automatic and that would be good for marketing.

I stopped by the Just factory primarily to look it over, compare their
Highlander to the Kitfox model 7 and was surprised that Troy mentioned
they have been sending 8 to 10 planes out the door per month, all Super
STOLs and probably at least in part due to all of the attention in the
aviation press on their Super STOL model. Positive attention sells planes
and grabs market share.

Kitfox is such a great and fun plane I would love to see it really
blossom. I say this having owned over a dozen piston planes, flown lord
knows how many more and really love my Kitfox.

BJ model IV 1050 Rotax 80

Jared's post pretty much summarizes my feelings on the differences between
the forum and the list. On Matronics it was always real people with real
names and real locations. After all Kitfox owners and fliers are like a
band of brothers. It is a great airplane and frankly some of the best
friends I have developed over a lifetime of doing things has been triggered
by this little airplane.

It has always amazed me how many of the Forum guys go to great lengths to
avoid revealing who they really are and where they are from. For me it
doesn't make for a warm and fuzzy. Yet, I have contributed on the Forum
where I felt I had something to say. But, I can honestly say the enthusiasm
is waning somewhat. I don't know if it is because of the anonymity which in
some sense suggests something sinister or that most active builders are
involved in the "heavies" or if it is the guys whose profile status is given
as 'Considering" who post as "experts" and whose posts make me wonder if
they have ever seen a real live Kitfox - of any vintage.

I remember when Matronics introduced the "Forum" option. I felt at the time
it would not help the email list. I have never flown behind a 582, but as
has been mentioned, I read every post. I became not only comfortable with
the two stroke 582, but somewhat knowledgeable about their operation. I
learned a lot about different options guys have on their airplanes. I had
joined the Matronics precursor after seeing some printouts of some
conversations on the original Kitfox email list while at one of the factory
fly-ins. This was in 1994. I remember Paul S. who was the source of
virtually all of Lynn's float mounting information he found on the Forum.
Paul has a history on this list or its precursor. I mention this only
because there is a world of knowledge behind the names who have posted on
this Merry Christmas thread and the many more who are lurking. I guess that
might be the problem. Not many builders needing help with questions. Just
a lot of guys who have been there and don’t that.

I would like to thank those who have posted. It does bring back many great
memories and I would hope we could do something someday.
Lowell
