There comes a time when you come to the realization that you must move
on. I purchased the kit for N66180 in the sixth month of 1996. It was
kit # 180 manufactured by Sky Star that year. I used money from my 401k
to do so. It took me almost ten years to complete the building and do
the first flight. I choose a Subaru engine and actually flew the first
32 hours before discovering a problem with the supposedly top of the
line reduction drive. It was then that I decided to use a Corvair
conversion engine. I flew the aircraft with this engine also. But not
many hours, I could check the log book to see. How ever my engine
rebuilding ability proved to be questionable, and my choice of a
carburetor was worse.

The Corvair conversion process had advanced with the addition of a fifth
bearing, nitrited crank and many other improvements. I decided to try
one more time to rebuild with a different crank and the fifth bearing,
I also purchased a Stromberg Carb. I purchased the intake runners from
William Wyenn that fit that carb. It ran great, but for some unknown
reason it won't Idle below 1000 rpms.

To make this short, I'm throwing in the towel. I can say I built it,
and I flew it. Tomorrow I will be 79 years old. My Wife has passed
away. While I haven't totally lost interest in flying and airplanes,
I've spent my money, enjoyed the building and what little flying I was
able to do, but its time to move on and try to enjoy the rest of my life.
