Hi Guys,
Can anyone suggest a wing tip landing light kit for my KIS. Or a good way to install one? I didn't want to cut into the wing.

Check Bob Reed's website, http://www.kisbuild.r-a-reed-assoc.com/ , go to
tips section, then landinhg light installation.

It is how I did it, but it is in the leading edge of the wing, not the wing
tip. Some of the technique might be useful to you.

Thanks Bill! Didn't know what tool to use to cut into the wing? I know you can't use a jig saw. I also just had the plane repainted.

A very handy tool for fiberglass work is the FEIN oscillating head
saw/sander. It oscillates the cutting tool or sanding head back and forth 2
degrees. you can touch the cutting surface with your finger and it will not
cut it, but a rigid material like fiberglass it cuts very smoothly and
controlled. Great for detail sanding also.

Others make a similar product, such as Bosch, etc. I have the FEIN tool.

FWIW I used a combination of LED lights for my airplane. The BEACON is a Red LED 14 VDC Aircraft Beacon, the Landing/Taxi/Recognition lights are AERO LED AeroSun 800 (2ea), while the Navigation/Position/Strobes are AVEO Engineering Powerburst Plus. I posted a video on YouTube with all of them working so you can see how they operate.

Wing tip lights are almost always nav lights. Taxi lts are in the leading edges of the wings. A landing lt can be located in the bottom cowling or in a wing leading edge. I've never seen a landing lt on the wing tip.

Dave Tate, the builder, originally mounted twin Halogen lights in the wing leading edge. It was very easy to change from twin halogen to LED.
Here is a video of the finished project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2Den_xrmvg
Here are photos of the conversion process: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.936852706395588.1073741826.242181299196069&type=1&l=cfbf75df3d

Hello Pastor Mac, You wrote:

1) "I didn't want to cut into the wing."

I suppose that it would be possible to cram a small automotive LED light
facing forward
into the wing tip of a KIS aircraft and call it a landing light, but I don't
think that any of
the responders to your posting thought it was a good idea. I agree with
them. Also forming
a clear acrylic lens for the light in the forward end of the wing tip would
not be easy.

2) "Didn't know what tool to use to cut into the wing?"

a) Draw a rectangle on the leading edge of the wing at the proper location
and the proper size for your
intended landing light.

b) Use a step-drill bit to drill one hole of the appropriate size at each
corner of the rectangle
so that the corners of the hole will be rounded and not a sharp 90 degrees.

c) Use a 32 teeth per inch hacksaw blade held either in a gloved hand or
vice grip pliers to
saw out the rectangle.

d) Clean up the results as needed with sandpaper on a stick or a smoothing
file.
