Time for me to install the front seat belts. I don't want to go with the
Vans offering, they have come undone in my 7a too many times to trust.
Does anyone have the measurements handy ? I think the critical distance
is the shoulder straps where they merge into the "Y" behind your neck,
then progress to the hard point on the cabin top.

Or better yet, the exact model number for a CROW offering of seatbelts
that would work in the front ?

Ron,I don't have the measurements, but when I ordered mine from Hooker, I just told them it was for an RV-10 and they knew what to send.  They fit perfetly.

Same for Crow. Just tell them it is for an RV-10 and they will know what to send.

I did the same as Shannon, except with Crow. I think I just called Abby from Flightline and told her I wanted 4 of the RV10 Crow harnesses, with sewn in pads, with the blackbird option (all black with black hardware). No measurements needed, and everything works great. The only additional thing I needed to do was to order spacer bushings from McMaster/Carr to size down the mounting hole in the crow attachment points to fit snuggly onto the AN4 (I think) bolts in the plane.

Regarding Crow vs. Hooker:

Now that I have an RV with each in them, I can tell you that
it's harder than ever to recommend one over the other. From a comfort
and latching perspective I prefer the hooker. They are lighter,
and lower profile, with much less bulk, and when you take them off,
you don't have the big honking crow twist buckle in the way as much.

But, the Hooker harness isn't as intuitive to a passenger who's
never seen them. Actually, I could say that about the Crow too.
Nobody seems to just "get" that you just mate up the shoulder
harness buckles and pass the tongue of the lap belt thru on the
Hooker. But nobody seems to get that you just plug in the
belt one at a time on the crow either...and if you twist it
they all pop out.

The Crow though, I really do like in the RV14 from an
aerobatic airplane perspective. It's a quick and easy release
and the shoulder pads are nice. Yet on the RV-10 I'd prefer
not to have thick pads. So in the end, they are both
very different seat belts, but I BOTH....like them
very much and dislike them in ways.

I'm just glad I got the right belts in the right plane, since
I prefer the Hooker in the RV-10 and prefer the Crow in the
RV-14, in general.

Whichever one you get, you'll be fine with, but ideally you'd
try them both out and see what you yourself think.

One mistake I made on my Hoover set was not including the adjustment pull tabs. I didn't even consider it and really wish I had. They are a bear to adjust without them.
