Does anybody know or remember the source or model number of the voltage regulators that Van's supplied with the kits back in the early 2000's and probably before? They are a compact solid state unit about 2 1/2 inches square and 3/4 inch deep in a metal case.

Hi Harry,
I don’t know the number but I vaguely remember my situation about 15 years ago.
I have one mounted on the back side of my firewall. It’s still there but I just cut the wires to it because my first replacement alternator came with an internal voltage regulator.

That’s how I remember it. I think I’m on my third alternator but they only cost about $99 or less from your favorite auto parts store and they all come with an internal voltage regulator.

Metal can, with mount points diagonally opposite? 70s-80s-maybe 90s era Ford.

Those look right?

I know it was a ford regulator. Look for one from a 1970 ford.

That's kinda like deciding on which individual grain of rice to buy. Smile It's pretty much a 'commodity' item. Note the range of models this fits:

I don't think you'll go wrong just walking in to the local auto parts store & asking for a Ford regulator.
