The AI's and T&B are powered by mechanical Inverters (motor generators) which convert 28 vdc to AC 400hz (can't remember the voltage).Â

The original mechanical voltage regulator and horizon draw 3.6A (on startup a bit more)
You can save 1 amp by using an electronic voltage supply for the horizon. The turn/bank also runs on that 3 phase voltage from the regulator.
The electronic one also weighs less.
