Guys

When I built the Elevators of my RV-9A (more than 10 years ago), I seem to remember that the manual said to balance them, either adding or taking off some weight to/from the lead blocks which are bolted to the Elevators' arms.

I can't find any similar instruction in the RV-10 manual.

Is it to be done?
Did you do it yourself?

Best

No balancing is necessary for the 10.

Just attach the weights and continue as per the plans.

There is a balance specification, which is in the finishing instructions, right along with the required range of travel. I don't know why they don't put it with the control surface completion, since you need to remove the control surface to accurately balance. I plan to do mine when I get the plane painted.
