Dear All,
I own and fly a YAK 52 (year 1987) and I've been facing recurrent issues with the gear selector at the front. It was several times machined an d repaired but without durable results: it always leaks, more and more. I must exchange it.
Do you have such a part as spare in your stocks? A new one would be perfect if still available. BTW, same request for the selector at the rear, that I'd like to change too.
Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Hi,

just replaced a leaky rear flap selector and sent it for overhaul to Aviaserv.
He has new/overhauled ones.
Or mail me (I am in Germany), I have a new rear gear selector as a spare.

btw:
The flap selector leaked so much that during flight the main air tank was drained, the compressor could not keep up. Had to close the air valve in flight to preserve some pressure for landing and braking. Luckily I already had a spare part in stock, so no waiting.

Doug Sapp, our CJ6 parts guru, usually has new front gear/flap selector valves as well as new rear gear selectors in stock.

Jean-Philippe / Dennis,

Yes we have both in stock, but simply replacing it will not solve the root problem.  Your pneumatic system is making moisture and if not corrected you will be replacing them again in a year or so.  You might consider checking your pneumatic desiccant filter, if you have one.  If you do not have one installed, we do carry the stainless steel version in our stock.
Best,
Doug

Hi Doug,

Thanks a lot for the wise technical advise.  I have no pneumatic dessicant filter.  Here, on the other side of the Atlantic, in the "old world", we have different rules. Before I consider the installation of such dessicant filter, my YAK 52 being registered in UK, I have first to ask to my Welsh workshop whether it is approved by the CAA UK.
I do it and get back to you asap.
All the best,
JP "Marty"

Hi Tobias,
thanks for your kind feedback.
Indeed my priority number 1 is the front valve.
I'm trying to find a new one. I'm going to ask to AVIASERV, that's a good idea.
Best regards,

We are operating a Yak52 in the UK so would be very interested if anyone has been able to get the desiccant filter approved as a mod.It would be good to be able to open the snot valve from the cockpit to unload the compressor also. Lubricant for the pneumatics should be a silicon oil also not glycerine and alchohol which i understand was used in the soviet union when the original spec was unavailable.

Best Wishes Pat
