Just wondering if anyone has close up photos of the speed kit for the landing gear. I would like to see how it interfaces with
The underside of the fuse and the bottom of the legs. Just wondering if I should build it myself, or hand over the massive wad of cash
To order it. If it is as I believe it to be, further improvements in drag reduction may be seen with a few tweaks at the top and bottom
Of each leg

Thanks... also if it’s a lot of photos feel free to send them directly to me if you wish.

Regards
Craig.

There is significant interference drag developed at these locations. Ideally a nicely blended cuff would be available to reduce this element if drag. I started playing with shapes in CAD but had to stop as ‘real’ work projects are pending. These could be made in batches by a 3D printing method (or by mould tools).

An added benefit is that the triggers to fuse joint (left side especially) get its full complement of air, mud, water and exhaust fumes thrown at it. Covering it would help stop the typical corrosion problems but create another thing that needs maintaining.

Fit would be via a clamp, with sufficient clearance (brushed) between main gear leg fairing and cuff to allow normal u/c movement (about 10 def each way).

Weight in polycarbonate around 4oz each side.

Regards
John

The interference drag was my concern also. My thoughts were to blend the top and bottom over about a 4 inch radius both fore and aft of the leg, and I figured modifying the kit
Could take almost as long as making it from scratch.
