I want to install a new radio (Garmin 430) in my CJ, but with panel space being somewhat limited I'm thinking about a lower center mount, below the switches and between the legs as I've seen similar done on other's airplanes - see attached. I also heard the MIG-15 has a factory mount in this location. Does anyone have pictures, or even better, drawings of such a mount? And most excellent would be the panel itself that could be purchased. Also, for anyone with experience with such mounting locations, what are the pros and cons?

Mine was designed, fabricated, and installed by Cliff Coy, Border Air. Ive been very happy with it. The only downside is vision is somewhat blocked by the stick but I’ve never had a problem with it, I just have to lean a little to the right.
