<![if !supportLists]><![endif]><![if !supportLists]><![endif]>   I just started my engine today for the first time since I received it 6 years ago.  All is well except that the alternater is not charging.  I have checked and rechecked my wiring to no avail. The light never goes out and voltage never rises after startup.  Any ideas?

Thanks,

Andy

Andy,
It isn't uncommon for the generator to not begin charging if your
starting RPM was low to begin with. This has happened to me a couple of
times. The
batteries need to be topped out and a good start should provide the
turnover that's needed to initially throw a current that will put the
generator
on line. If you get strong starts and a light, check the wiring diagram
from Zenith. If you don't have one, let me know and I'll send you a copy.

Thanks Larry. I think I may understand what the problem is. I got another
response direct to me that may explain the problem. The engine starts so
quick that 12v necessary to excite the alt. (that is now there via the start
circuit) is not there long enough to do any exciting. It seems that I may
have an old wiring diagram. If you can send me a copy of yours I'd
appreciate it. Thanks again.
