Hi Will and Jon,
I had the same problem and talked to Nev Eyre about it. The wing sockets are meant to be bonded in place so that both sockets are firmly in contact with the wing root when rigged, thus allowing no forward and aft movement of the wingtip with moderate force (because the wings are pulled inwards against the sockets by the main pins through the spars). But in practice, there is sometimes a very small gap between the socket and the root, thus allowing a small fore and aft movement at the wingtip. Nev suggested trying a stainless steel washer placed over the forward socket to shim it out. When you find one the correct thickness, it should prevent the movement at the tip. Too thick and the wings will not rig. When you get the correct thickness, it can be bonded on to the wing root with A420.

But Nev also said if it is only a very small movement at the tip it is not really a problem.

Regards,
Keith Hickling,
New Zealand.

Hi Keith and Tim,

Thank you very much for posting this. It sounds like excellent advice and I am going to do this straight away. Nev’s tips (bless him) with be around in the Europa community for a long time I think.

Thanks again, Jon

Hi Jon

I solved a slight movement issue with a piece of very thin brass shim
purchased from a model shop.  It only take a few thou of movement on the
pin to give a noticeable movement at the tip.  A steel washer may be a
bit thick.
