After a little over six years of hibernation, I am beginning work on the Piet again. We’ve been in a condominium for about four years, and this winter move to a house with an oversize garage that will allow me to work on the plane.
When I had to stop working on the plane I had put one coat of varnish on the majority of the structure, and in some places to coats.
When I had to stop working on plane I had put one coat of varnish on the majority of the structure, and some places to coach. As I return to the project, I am wondering if the entire structure needs two coats of varnish or if one coat is sufficient in the rear of the airplane. Places that will see wear I would imagine would require two coats or three.
What is the advice of the wise?
To all my West Coast Pieter friends, I’m now in Smyrna Tennessee (just outside of Nashville).
Is there anyone in the Middle Tennessee area building a Piet?
Thanks for the varnishing advice. I’m sanding down the structure after the last coat and trying to determine how much to do.
