They could not get the drain plug out, tank is at CGS and they gave up trying.

Surely; You jest!

What you are suggesting here is something akin to Russian Roulette with at least three rounds in the chamber. The problem is some may think that is a workable solution to avoid the purchase of a new tank. It most certainly is not.

Plug was finally removed, but main air tank did not passed the inspection.

Drill it out......carefully. Leave the hole just under the minor diameter (hole for tap size). You can then unravel it out. Been there, done that.

Doug Sapp has new stainless steel tanks for sale.  They fit perfectly and zero rust in the future.

I put the main and emergency tanks in this past year.
