The fourth spar is glued and drying in the jig. Running low on t88 so need to get more ordered before moving on with the plywood webbing..

Our local Woodcraft store keeps T-88 in stock.  If you have one of those nearby, maybe you can skip the time and cost of shipping. Nice work, by the way.

I have gotten the spars done and have slid the ribs onto the rear left spar. That stack of ribs that have been laying around are starting to look like a wing.

Spars were jigged, checked for square. Ribs jigged and checked for square again. T88 was mixed and applied. Once again checked for square. Then little tinny nails tack hammered to nail the ribs to the spars while t88 dries. Checking for square many more times in the process. The whole time thinking boy these nails are small and i really really hope its square when done.

Cdlwingnut: does the Ultra-Piet have full-span ailerons? The rib tails all look like they are set up to be cut out to make ailerons.

I have been working on nose ribs and have started assembling the right wing. I have also been working on lots of smaller projects, those are tough because you don't see the progress as much but still need to be done

Dude, you've got some serious moisture intrusion problems on that concrete masonry wall ;o) Looks like you're building in a basement, or maybe partial daylight basement, with at least that back corner and most of one wall below grade. Not sayin' that's black mold growing in the corner, but it's at least mildew.

Back to regularly-scheduled airplane building ;o)

i was feeling brave enough to try cutting the slots in my vertical fin and rudder to install the hinges. I just went slow and took my time to cut sand and slide the hinges in then some careful work with the drill I managed to install the bolts to hold them together. No the bolts in the picture aren't locking as i will have to take the hinges off a few times for covering and such they will be locking bolts for the final assembly.

finally got the shop warm enough for T-88 so I got the nose ribs on the left wing and installed the false rib for the ailerons.

the shop was a little cold to comfortably work with t-88 so i cut and beveled the gussets for the trailing edge piece. I then put on a coat of varnish on the leading edge parts that won't be accesable once the leading edge plywood is on.

Looking good,

I hope to start on one of these in a year or so, I’ve enjoyed seeing your progress. I wish there were still more people using this forum, i think the format is more conducive to real info exchange than Facebook.

I do like this format for showing build progress, I would love so see others who are building use it too. It is fun watching a bunch of sticks and some plywood slowly turn into an airplane.

Facebook has only one mandate. Take every last bit of your life and
sell it to any and all businesses that will make a profit off it.
That goes for gubmint also. Big Time!

Anyway, enough rant. I've now got my very own hanger space at
Delta Heritage Airpark, CAK3, in Delta, BC, Canada.
http://www.deltaheritageairpark.org/

I'm getting closer and closer to the frame inspection. I need a 72"
tach cable and two 90° fittings. I'm saving up for that. When
the weather gets better I'll be doing the fuel system leak test
and fuel flow test. Also compass swinging. There's some
nuts and bolt stuff to take care of. OH! and the engine cowling
to design and make. 90% done 90% to go!
And then there's the prop to make!!

These pics are in the temporary space. My new permanent space
is three spaces right, at the very end of the hanger.

Clif
Fill what's empty, empty what's full, fart joyously, carry matches.

Clif; after dealing with an awkwardly-routed tach cable on my airplane, I sprung for one of those 90 degree cable adapters from Aircraft Spruce. About $70 USD, works great.
