Thanks Kip

I finished the plywood strips on the wing and it is ready for the ailerons to be installed. I cut and installed the plywood on the aileron making progress on it.

progress is slowing down due to the better weather making so other projects have to be done and allowing for more flying. I have been able to make some progress on the aileron though. the wood is glued to the back of the plywood now ready for the gusset strips

I finished installing the cross braces for the aileron and attached the plywood on the other side. The aileron is now ready for varnish and the hinges. I had a little more time so i took a piece of aluminum angle and fabricated a heel brake peddle. We will see how it works.

with one wing down i started assembly of the right wing. I got the ribs glued to the spars. I also made 2 more brake peddles, why 2 more because i made one then found out I forgot to reverse it and had a 2nd left peddle when i was done so i had to reverse it and make one more to get a right one.

I would be interested to know what the uncovered, finished wing weighs. Pick it up and stand on your bathroom scales, then get on the scales and subtract your weight without the wing.

Looking good! Are you going to try to make it a legal ultralight or register it as a certificated aircraft? Once I get started on mine, I’m planning on registering it as a certificated LSA, in part because my life insurance has a specific exclusion for dying in an Ultralight accident, Lol.

Kip mine ia alreasy registered being mostly Douglas Fir and with a rotax 503 it wont make the ultra-light weight limits

the rain gave me some time to work in the shop today. I got the nose ribs glued on and the leading edge plywood for the center section measured and cut. It is now clamped and strapped to the leading edge to form before being varnished and glued in place.

All I know is, those landing gear legs with the light blue fairings look WAYYY too big for your Ultra-Piet!

with the hectic summer schedule the little piet hasn't gotten the attention it should be getting. I did get a few minutes to get the plywood gusset strips cut and glued to the top of the center section.

progress has slowed down with work getting pretty busy, I suppose it is the flying season not the building season. I did get the trailing edge installed and one of the leading edge plywood pieces soaked, clamped, and strapped in place to pre-bend it.
