Due to my previously posted incident, I got a new propeller. An Ultra Prop 2 from Competition Aircraft.
Does anyone have experience with one? The owner, Bob Davis, is super helpful. He shipped fast. I got a 3 blade Ultra 2, but after some discussion, he thinks my Rotax 582 with 3.00:1 gear box will perform better with a 4 blade set up. My goal is the best stol and climb performance possible.
I’m waiting on a prop spacer so there isn’t a repeat of the previous incident.
I think I’m close to getting this bird airborne…..hopefully in the next week or so….

The only experience I have is with a 2 blade ultra prop 2 on my friends J3 Kitten with a 447 and a 2.58:1 gearbox. It runs very nicely with the 9 degree pitch blocks but we may try to 10 degree blocks instead. I would think 3 blades would be enough to use all the horsepower of a 582 on a 66" prop. Maybe with the 3.0:1 it could use 4 blade though. I'm not really sure on that.
