Hi list,
I'd like to do some work *way* up under the panel and was thinking it would be easier to accomplish if the rudder pedals were removed.   Has anybody pulled them from a completed airplane?
They went in fairly easily, but now there is a lot more stuff in the way of pulling them back out!
Thanks,
David

I can’t speak to removing the pedals but I recently installed the kit for hatches in front of the windshield.  Now I have great access to the upper area behind the firewall. Basically directly above the pedals. It’s a straightforward job.  I squeezed all the rivets. Involves painting though.

Do you have a link? Some quick Googling did not turn it up.

David,

How did you seal the hatches? Did you follow the instructions or use some other preferred method?

Thanks,

Tom

Ditto, I'd also like to know about sealing the hatches from rain. Thanks, Lew

The old Mooney I had was tight under the panel and had openings forward of the windscreen. They always leaked. I have mostly Dynon equipment in my aircraft. Most of it is really shallow and the Dynon (Trig) transponder and 1 com radio is mounted behind the aft baggage bulkhead. I can service everything by removing the front seats and sticks or taking out a screen for access.

Sorry guys, I haven't sealed them yet.  Big help, huh?

When I do, I'll use some RTV and packing tape for a release, set the covers in place with the screws a turn or two back from tight, and let it set up.
