Starting thread for Holiday week. Surely some of you have done cool things with your Europa this weekend!

We're AOG until our EFIS is repaired, hopefully Tuesday.

Got to the field for a local flight... started my daily inspection by rolling the prop over by hand; 3 out of 4 cylinders presented compression... ripped the lid off and started pulling plugs; #2 cylinder... turned on compressor and got the leak tester out; compressor died, offgrid hangar battery drained to zero... had enough air to run a diagnostic... marginal air escaping into crankcase and exhaust... bolted it all up and rolled it over again; some progressive improvement and still low on compression... finished DI and rolled 181 out of the hangar for ramp checks; started and ran perfect as normal (possibly just a fleck of carbon caught under a valve seat on previous shut down)... increased rpm to 2500 and got minor vibration, pulled back to idle and no vibration... increased rpm to 3500 for runnups, ran normal no vibration, increased rpm again to 2500, vibration... checked again with aux fuel pump on and also with fuel taps off; no change in vibration status... entered the field for some WOT ground runs; ran great... decided to not fly until source of vibration found... will start with propeller tracking... looking forward to rolling the prop over again when cold and see what presents!

Way back in 2017 on test flying i had weird fuel pressure readings...so fuel pumps filters etc...weeks of work chasing the issue until by coincidence i found the nut on the bottom of my fuel pressure regulator lose.   The regulator is supposed to come from the factory with the right setting.

So anyway i set the pressure and it has stayed rock solid at 4.7 ever since.   (Max pressure is 5.0Cool.
I finally got around to adjusting it to the correct pressure of 3.6.   5 minutes.   Proving yet again that difficult is in inverse proportion to dread.

Checking prop tracking today with a piece of paper ruler and a sharp pencil; the maintenance cradle worked a treat holding the airframe still. Everything was within spec except the clamping bolt tension; previous owner left them fairly loose or simply forgot to retention them; no more airframe items now remaining left unchecked... also noticed a balance master has been fitted by original builder; awesome!!! no need to buy one!!

Next was checking carburettor balancing... discovered this was the cause of vibration the other day... pulled the lid off the engine bay, walked 181 out to the ramp, reversed the truck up to the tail and lashed it to the towbar and fired up the 912 and got stuck into tuning the carbs old school style with a piece of 1/4" vacuum hose stuck in my ear and the other end at the carburettor piston... quick adjustment of a throttle cable and engine was running like silk again; all the way down to 600rpm through to 3500rpm... problem gone away...

Ready to get back up into the sky and start setting up the airmaster csp assembly that arrived last week.
