Taken directly from their web site -

"27.12.05
Russia and China combine efforts in civil aviation
A Russian-China subcommittee session on cooperation in civil aviation took
place on 12-13 December of 2005 in Peking. The subcommittee hadn't been
assembled for the last eight years so it was enthusiastically welcomed by
the participants. The Russian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of
Industry and Energetic, Mr. A.Reus.

The resulting approved document reflects the tendency of both sides to join
their efforts in the field of new aviation technologies. The sides selected
the primary trainer project of Yak-152 type as a new common aircraft
development program. The sides have agreed to jointly develop, fabricate,
test, certify and produce the aircraft.

The next session of the subcommittee is appointed on July-August of 2006 in
Moscow."

Here's a link to their page on the Yak 152.

Would it be unreasonable to assume that some parts of the -152 may be also apply to existing lines of Yak-52 and/or CJ-6's? I certainly hope so as this means that suppliers are still in support of these A/C.
Perhaps Doug could get good prices on those M-14X engines out of China?? Someday in the future when our current supply wears out.

I'll check it out, but I wouldn't hold my breath, the Chinese think that a brand new 285 hp is worth 40K (my cost.)

I guess the answer to the Chinese is, it's only worth 40K if someone is willing to pay that much for it.

Craig,

Nothing at all will fit in the CJ from the Yak-52 or Yak-152. The CJ
was designed, from scratch, with no influence from anything from
Yakovlev or anywhere else in Russia.

yea right....
