Hi Guys, for those who asked me to keep them up to speed on where Im at with the rebuild I am happy to say that the engine goes back in this weekend after having a rebuild. The panel is slowly regaining its former appearance and apart from a tacho and altimeter which were ordered today, the other instruments are either installed or ready to go in. The wing rebuild will be the last issue to deal with and parts are slowly being secured so Im happy to say that the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter. You really dont appreciate how much flying becomes a part of who you are until you are deprived of the privilege. Its just not the same being a passenger. While Im tapping away on the computer I'd like to ask the Subaru drivers that are using the Warpdrive ground adjustable what their impressions of the prop are. Id really appreciate some feedback on performance as I have been offered a 3 blade with hub for a really good price.

Cheers
Graeme Toft

we used a IVO ground adjustable on our Subaru 3.2 liter and it is ok at
cruise but NDG at climb .Our best climb rate after using many different prop
pitches is about 45 fpm. Best fix we made on the Eggenfellner fuel injected non
turbocharged was to punch a hole in the diaghragm of the original fuel pressure
regulator to make it inop and install a ground adjustable fuel pressure
regulator from Eggenfellner and set it accordingly. cruises like a scalded duck
at 140mph (redline ) and about 25 inch manifold pressure and less than 7gph..
Still climbs like a dog no matter what prop pitch. I have no experience
with your warp drive prop however for what it is worth Eggenfellner recommends
Subaru engines use only in flight adjustable prop. In his RV kits I have been
told by RV builders that he recommends setting full throttle for takeoff and
reducing rpm with pitch changes leaving full throttle for cruise..

Graeme,
I have a three blade Warp Drive counter clockwise rotation on my Model 5 with EJ-22 and Ross Redrive. I am still experimenting with the cruise, but one morning at full gross, 480' field elevation, & 9 F. OAT, I was seeing 1900 fpm.
In the summer, with two aboard, 85 degrees, and more of a cruise pitch, we were still seeing 1000 fpm.
I haven't been impressed with cruise, but I still need to do some experimenting with pitch.
I hope to get some cruise statistics by mid Feb.
HTH

There great figures Ben and I'd be happy with that kind of performance
in climb. It sounds like you're not entirely happy with cruise though.
What do you feel you'll be able to get after some tweeking? My engine is
the NSI EA81 which doesnt have the grunt you have but Im not as heavy
either being a model 1V.

Is your engine fuel injected and computer equipped? If so I have a solution
for you.

The fuel system is the standard Ellison Throttle body naturally
aspirated.

Hi Graeme,
Robert Harmsin in Houston gets to Vne in level flight with a two blade IVO prop, although his 2.2 is turboed.
I'm hoping for at 120 mph indicated cruise. I did see 110 kts. in Nov. for a short time, but was not sure if I was level. I need to do some test flights.
