Other than "we should just shoot all the rag-heads" virtually every
topic we have had on here has been directly or indirectly associated
with how we fly our aircraft.

When you go out to dinner or lunch with your flying buddies, do you only
talk about your airplane? I know I don't.

do not archive

When I'm out with my buddies I'm in private company, conversations come up that are of interest to those involved. I dont bring a megaphone with me so the entire restaurant is forced to hear me. I guess that you could counter that the other people in the restaurant could just leave if they dont like or care about what I'm talking about, but that would be selfish.

Having an off topic conversation on an internet list forces others who dont care about your conversation at the very least to have to filter their subject lines rather than look forward to reading something of interest about the topic they subscribed to this list for in the first place.

Additionally, off topic conversations fill the archives with junk that people will need to filter through, and wastes disk space. The ratio of relevant vs irrelvant information on this list has gone off the scale, and not in a favorable direction. Also relevant posts are usually rather small with respect to word count. These political diatribes are usually pages long, and then the problem gets exacerbated when follow up posts contain all the previously posted information creating an exponential increase in bandwidth utilization.
