Exactly! Good to see we agree on this one. Anyway, after sailing all my
life at 5 to 6 knots, flying a Kitfox at 70 knots is like ... the speed
of light! Smile

Cheers,

for 4 weeks and feeling very sick! Smile

Amen Lowell it is the journey not the destination. That's why they charge
by the hour for rent, tours etc. Unfortunately my job has prevented my
flying a cessna that I own beyond the borders of my own state. I hope to
extend my range to washington this summer for the eaa fly in at Arlington.
By the way if you come up the coast I can assist with gas, transportation,
etc. at (OTH) North Bend or Lakeside airport in Oregon. Ron NB Ore

I love my little airplane. I've spend nine yours in a day getting where I
want to go and low enough to see where I went. I guess I'll never
understand the pilots that profess a love of flying, but want to spend as
little time in their airplanes as they can.

Michel, John & everyone else,

This has got to be one of my favorites. Can't tell you how many times I have
heard talk from some folks about going faster, getting there faster, its not
fast enough yet, if only a couple more knots, etc, etc, etc. If getting into
the sky to play is what we do - why hurry to get back on the ground and get
it over with?!?!.

It's not the destination, It's the journey...

I have no scientific proof, But I am pretty sure that time spent aloft does
not count as time against our lifespan.

Well said, Dave. Mind you, I see the same in the yachting world. A
friend of mine had a sailboat and I asked once if we should sail
together to Denmark. It's so far away, it would take a long time, he
answered. Not if you start early in the morning and sail to sunset, I
said. What? I don't get up early when I am on holiday! was his final
objection.

.. Well, I love to get up early and come to the yacht harbour or
airfield at dawn, there is something magical about it.

My friend now has a speed boat that does 40 knots. He can come in the
Norwegian archipelago in ... five or ten minutes. Then he can stop
there and ... wait for the evening.

I sailed alone from Norway to Spain, and back. I had a great time. Last
summer, I flew my Kitfox from Norway to Belgium and back and had a
terrific time. Each time I landed, I felt sorry that, that leg had
already come to an end. There is nothing like being up there, why make
it short?

Cheers,
Michel
