I am learning Photo Bucket and some of these are repeat photos, others are
new and some that I sent earlier were dropped.

Some explanatory captions have been added to these so you know what you
are looking at or why I selected them

Hope it works and folks get a kick out of them. BY GOLLY I sure have had
FUN flying along and taking them.

Steve,

I thought I sent this post below this one but did not see it come in at my
end so i am sending it again.

When I figure out how to segregate photos by topic on Photo Bucket, i'll
try to post a set of trailer specific pictures with details of key trailer
considerations - there are a bunch

When I happened to display the plane, trailer and motorhome set-up at
Page, Az for their wings and wheels event, there were a ton of kids. It
did my heart good to see so many kids fawn over the plane and pictures
that I had on display. Many went completely a binder of 8 X 10 glossy
photos from flights, touched or petted the cowl of the plane and hugged on
the prop. One little guy was extremely excited, pointing all sorts of
things out to his parents and dragging them all around the plane. I
mentioned to the parents, "It looks like you folks have a budding pilot"
and they said Oh Yeah! His nick name is already ACE. I was reluctant to
have the plane in the crowd area but changed my mind after so many kids
seemed to be enthralled.

Steve,

I use an enclosed trailer. The idea of having the plane exposed while
traveling cross country and touring invites problems, kids, road debris,
etc.

Our place in the Florida Keys is an astonishingly corrosive environment
and a typical T hanger rents for $6,000 per year so the trailer also
serves as a hanger for me, which saves lots of money and protects the
plane. A new enclosed trailer for a Kitfox can be had for about $5,500, -
see Barnstormers.

I have loaded the plane both ways in different trailers, currently loading
tail first with the tail wheel on a small (read cheap) flat trailer. I set
it up this way originally to get the best towing weight balance for this
particular enclosed trailer.

However, when the wings are folded The plane is very easy to move, even on
lose gravel with the "large" tail wheel trailer tires. The tail is
elevated on the little trailer of course, so the wings fold and unfold
easy with no down and back force. Wings swing with two fingers. Gas does
not run out of gas caps if the tanks are near full. The tongue of the tail
wheel trailer has a bar extending across it about a foot on each side to
hold onto while moving the plane - works great.

The tongue of the small trailer clamps on a hitch ball mounted to the
front frame of the enclosed trailer so it is locked in position while
bouncing down the road. The plane's tail wheel is pinned into a socket so
it can't move either. And since I siphon gas out of the wings before going
out on the road for long distances or on rough roads, the wing tanks are
about at the perfect angle for siphoning when the tail of the plane is up
on the trailer. I swing one wing, start the siphon on that side while
swinging the other wing, then siphon the second side while installing the
wing support struts.

This sounds time consuming but I can pull the plane out of the enclosed
trailer, tow it thru the back gate of the nearby airport, swing the wings
into position and be ready to fly in 12 minutes make it 15 if I need to
add gas.

The prop with a 912 does not rotate while towing.

I know I gotta get some pictures up.

Looks like a nice trailer. I need one for a hangar. We're getting kicked off our field for new development. Hangar nearby is $325. Ouch!

Yea, Pete, I understand. I currently pay $300/month for an unheated T hangar. But, with the Kitfox I also store my pickup camper and 4 horse trailer in it. And, no hangar rash because no one else is in it with me. I can get one for $200/month but would have to put up with 4 or 5 other planes in the same hangar, not be able to store my camper & horse trailer, and everyone has to move planes to get in & out.

Steve,

Heard the stories about the FAA cracking down on non-aircraft stuff
in the hangar? Some really scary stuff going on out there. I sometimes
wonder if people associated with government are just loosing their minds.

Guy,
Yes, the FAA thinks they now are "hangar police", so does Homeland Security under the guise of TSA. We have all of the above at my home airport and they do try to wave a heavy hand. My home airport requires at least one aircraft in each hangar, so there is lea way there. All of us pilots keep an eye out for TSA, Homeland Security and FAA types and when found, the word circulates rapidly and hanger doors close and lock real fast. What a load of crap we have allowed our government to become, and at what point do good men stand up and say, "Enough"! (Please forgive the rant. I guess I'm getting old enough I'm about ready, and think I am still able to both start and finish a good fight)

Pete,

Walmart bought our privately owned airport and kicked us out too, which
made me buy the Kitfox and the enclosed trailer.

I Sort of thank Walmart under my breath now because of how much fun the
Kitfox has been. Funny how things turn out sometimes.

I'll post some trailer pictures and thoughts shortly. You may find
something useful in those pictures and notes.

(My Fl. Keys hanger is $6,000 per year, but the trailer stays in our yard,
no tie down or hanger rent)

Steve,
I'm with you on the whole government thing, as you say we need good men that
still remember what it took to build this country and what it takes to keep
it free and strong representing us in Washington. The manufacturing plant
where I work recently had a surprise visit from the EPA, inspection went
well and during the small talk our environmental manager learned that the
inspector although representing the EPA was actually employed buy a company
out of China that was subcontracted by the EPA for the inspections, that
kind of stuff grinds me, like going to the White House for a tour and
finding out the souvenirs were made in China.
(Yes, this is not the place for this discussion and I apologize for the off
topic subject).
