I purchased a used Lightning, N126NM and had a Garmin 430W installed. The problem is, when I try the RFI test for gps integrity, it more or less fails. In a Lightning, where is the best location and which antenna should be used? I have the GPS receiver located on the top of the fuselage just behind the canopy.

Thanks,
Curt

I am not sure why that location would not work. You do need a ground plane for your GPS antenna. Mine is mounted on my glare shield but it is mounted on a rectanguar piece of aluminum. A ground plane is important for most antennas. Look at the 430W install manual to see if this antenna needs a ground plane.
