Flying RV10 people,

I'm in the process of finishing up my cowling and baffling. In looking at the louvers that go on the bottom back of the cowl I have been debating whether the additional louvers that Alex offers would be worth installing. Have any of you flying had difficulty with engine heat problem and do you feel that Alex's additional louvers would be worth installing.

In case you haven't seen the louvers I'm talking about here is the web address where you can see what they look like.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

We have not noticed a problem, but I know others have talked about wanting/needing them.

Do not archive.

My recommendation is to stick with Van's design until late in the flight testing. This will give the engine time to break in and time to list and think about the problems that need to be solved. IF you have a heat problem it can be addressed later with no more effort than making the mods now.

At Vans Homecoming one gentlemen walked around the 7-8 RV-10's taking a poll on those with the tunnel heat problem. Only 2 out of 8 stated it was a problem yet it was a highly discussed item on the matronics list giving one the impression everybody had the problem.
