Hi All,

I'm getting ready to add some upgrades to my panel and one of the items I'm
considering is the Blue Mountain EFIS/Lite G3. Is there anyone on the list
who is flying with one of these or knows someone who is? I would really
appreciate some feed back on this unit.

Thanks,

Curtis

I'm flying both the G3 and the Dynon. Both have advantages and
disadvantages. Do you plan any IFR and what radios/GPS are you using?
(May be easier to discuss off list; I'm just one opinion.)

Please share your discussions with the rest of us. I think a number of us
would be interested. At least I am.

I meant, before inadvertently hitting the mouse, to say: Ditto and I'm also
interested in any Sport opinions.

Hi Wayne,

Some of the guys want to keep it on the list, however I have limited typing
ability due to my bilateral "CTS", so if it's getting long send me you phone
# and a good time to call you and we can talk.

I'm looking for the G3 to provide the following functions;

1. Second ADI
2. HSI/RMI
3. CDI for GX60 & SL30

I've been reading a lot of the discussions on the matronics and other sites,
however I'm looking for some real flying experience with the unit. Since
you have the G3 and the Dynon you can provide a unique perspective and
comparison of both units.

Do you use your units for ILS/GS? If so how to they compare?

Curtis

I'll email you my phone number directly. I certainly agree with keeping
things on the list. The delete button is easy to use, if needed!
Briefly, I have found the Dynon to be a far superior ADI than the G3. It is
smoother and faster to respond. My G3 needs resetting on startup sometimes
but not the Dynon. I like the numeric heading readout on the G3 ADI as well
as the ribbon and wish the Dynon had that; otherwise, Dynon ADI all the way.
I think the G3 ADI is good as a backup for IFR and primary VFR but would not
recommend it as primary IFR. The EHSI is really neat on the G3 and has a
unique feature, a virtual VOR. It allows the unit to use its own GPS to
mimic a VOR.
The unit will work great with the SL30, including the VOR indications. The
external VOR inputs have been a real problem interfacing with other units
for the G3. For example it will not accept my Garmin 430 outputs. (Should be
fixed with next software upgrade.) Unfortunately you will not be able to
transfer any flightplan data from the GX30 to the G3 to show up on the
moving map. You would also need to install a separate switch to select which
input to the CDI(HSI)if you want GPS (GX60) or VOR (SL30) indications.
(Definitely want an annunciator light so you don't think it's localizer and
be GPS.)
Customer support for both has been excellent, but BMA had more problems than
expected at release. There are slowly working through them, though.

I'll stop there.
