I added .016 L's I made with a small brake to the sides. I should have added one on the bottom just behind the large inspection hole.

Hi,
I just ordered the fuselage, flaperons and slats kit for the 701 from
Zenith. I think I would like to add the diagonal "L" angle stiffening pieces
to the fuselage bottom, top and sides as some builders have done.

Are they a good idea? I would appreciate any comments.

If they are, does anybody know how many lengths of L angle are required.
Regards,
Perry

Perry, I have diagonal stiffeners in my 701 and they help but I still get so
me rattle in certain fligh conditions. It is telling that the diagonals are
stock on the 750 so if I were building a 701 again I would not hesitate to p
ut them in. As for how many to order, I don't remember but essentially one f
or every bay. I would seriously consider adding a second diagonal for a "X"
in the large flat side panels immediately behind the baggage wall as I thin
k one diagonal still leaves too much unsupported 016 drum skin and is likely
the source of the slight rattle I have left when flying uncoordinated.

Hope this information helps

HI Doug,
Thanks. I asked Zenith to add them to my order. Won=99t say who,
but someone estimated 11 lengths were required, and I have a couple
extra lying around. I will definetly go for the =9CX=9D.

Thanks Chuck.

I will X it up. and thanks for the heads up on making your own L brackets. I have enough scrap 016 to make my own to supplement those ordered with the fuselage.

Perry

Hi,
I just ordered the fuselage, flaperons and slats kit for the 701 from
Zenith. I think I would like to add the diagonal "L" angle stiffening pieces
to the fuselage bottom, top and sides as some builders have done.

Are they a good idea? I would appreciate any comments.

If they are, does anybody know how many lengths of L angle are required.
